The glasses, due to their location in the central part of the face, are one of the first things we pay attention to when meeting new people. Their selection is not only a matter of choosing corrective glasses for the defect. Corrective glasses can add seriousness, emphasize beauty or become our hallmark. Make sure that when you decide to buy them, you not only improve the quality of vision, but also feel comfortable in them.
Face shape is the first thing to pay attention to when selecting frames. When choosing glasses, one should be guided not only by the shape of the face, but also by its size. It has been assumed that faces with sharp contours (such as square, rectangular or triangular) are matched by rounded frames, and faces with oval and rounded glass with more angular shapes. The square or upward-facing frames optically lengthen the round face and emphasize the cheekbones. In the case of a triangular face (so-called heart), the main challenge is to balance the proportions of the face. Rounded at the bottom of the frame will make it easier to achieve such an effect. The square face type will lengthen round glass with or without delicate frames. The oval, on the other hand, looks best with contrasting sharp-edged frames, such as Emporio Armani or Dolce&Gabbana corrective glasses, which in their models skillfully combine elegance with modernity. The proportions should not be forgotten either. Too small or too big glasses can distort the face. However, comfort should be a priority in the selection of frames. Too wide corrective glasses may limit the field of vision. If you wear them for several hours a day, pay special attention to whether they are not too tight, do not restrict vision and do not slip out of your nose.
The most popular materials used in frames are plastics and metal. In the case of the former, acetate is the most commonly used agent for their production. Its main advantages are its low weight and good strength. In addition to its lightness and resistance, TR-90 also gives the frame its flexibility. Metal eyepieces are usually made of stainless steel or titanium. Both materials are resistant to corrosion and at the same time they weigh very little, but the titanium frames are able to survive more. Metal and plastics combine the classic Ray-Ban® Clubmaster glasses. Wooden and bamboo frames are also becoming more and more popular. They attract attention with their originality, but cost more than glasses made of other, more popular materials.
Corrective glasses are made of glass (mineral lenses) or plastic (organic lenses). Most modern eyepieces have organic lenses that are more durable and lighter. They can also be enriched with curing, anti-reflective, hydrophobic or photochromatic coatings. Thanks to the hardening layer, the glasses are even more resistant to scratches. Anti-reflective coating inhibits light reflections and hydrophobic coating improves the glasses' resistance to fogging or wetting. Photochromic lenses react to the sun's rays, changing colour and blocking UV radiation. Many optical shops, such as Optiland.pl, offer the possibility to choose coatings according to their own purposes and needs.
It is not worth saving on corrective glasses. Suitable glasses can be used for years, making everyday activities easier. When choosing a model for yourself, pay particular attention to the comfort of wearing it, especially if you use it for several hours without interruption. Glasses can become your business card, highlight your beauty and even character traits.
