How much does a ski trip cost?

The decision to book a winter holiday in advance translates into more choice and big savings. Until the end of September you can still book a ski holiday with up to 35% discounts," says Magda Plutecka, a spokeswoman for Neckermann Travels. This year, the travel agency recorded a 12% increase in sales of ski trips. Poles are more and more willing to choose hotels of a higher standard and with food. The most popular destinations are Italy and Austria.

- Poles already book a winter holiday. These are mainly skiers who know from experience that the best hotels and ski resorts sell relatively quickly, especially on the most popular dates, i.e. holidays and winter holidays - emphasizes Magda Plutecka, a spokeswoman for Neckermann Travels, in an interview with the information agency Newseria Biznes Magda Plutecka.

More and more willing to go out in winter, we focus primarily on active recreation on the slopes. According to a representative of Neckermann travel agency, this year Neckermann recorded a 12% increase in ski sales. Poles decide to leave early, especially since early booking is associated with numerous bonuses.

- We can now book the best located hotels, on the slopes, with ski passes included in the price. It also saves a lot of money. Until the end of September you can still book a ski holiday with up to 35% discount. If we plan to ski this year, it is worth to do it right now, when these prices are the most attractive - convinces Plutecka.

The stable PLN exchange rate and a similar level of fuel prices make this year's prices comparable to the previous season. Most skiers go to the resorts by car.

- However, the average price of reserved ski events increased by a few percent, because we prefer to choose hotels of a higher standard, offering more attractions, such as regeneration and relaxation in wellness and spa centres. More people this year also select food facilities," says the spokeswoman for Neckermann Poland.

Holidays on the slope

Customers' preferences for the winter season do not change significantly. The Alps reign. 80% of those leaving Neckermann choose the slopes in Italy and Austria. The main reason is the guarantee of snow in good weather, but tourists also appreciate the good infrastructure, excellent cuisine and convenient access.

- In recent seasons Italy was the number one. Favourite destinations for Poles include Val Gardena, Val di Fiemme in the Dolomites, but also the Trentino region with Val di Sole and of course Livigno," points out Magda Plutecka.

A week-long ski trip to Tirol in Austria, with a stay in a 3-star hotel with two meals, costs approx. 820 zł. The price of a trip to Livigno in Italy is similar, with accommodation in apartments without board, but with skipasses included in the price.

- Due to the attractive price and proximity Poles like to choose the native slopes, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia are also popular, which although not quite a well-known destination, has a lot to offer. The Julian Alps are beautiful nature, as well as beautifully prepared slopes and cross-country trails, and more and more Poles practice this sport. It is also a good infrastructure for such places as Kranjska Gora or Rogla," says the expert.

Kranjska Gora offers the most extensive infrastructure for winter sports enthusiasts in Slovenia, including routes of varying degrees of difficulty. Close to the ski resort is Planica, known for its ski jumping tournaments. This year, from 11th to 18th December, Neckermann is organising a skiopening event in Kranjska Gora, which is the start of the season.

- It will be a real treat to be able to go skiing on the slopes of three different countries during a single event, because such opportunities are offered by the holiday in Slovenia. The biggest attraction, however, will probably be the first amateur ski jumping competition in Polanica under the watchful eye of Adam Malysz - announces Magda Plutecka.
