What's cheaper? Travel agency or travel planning alone? The answer seems trivial, but when you count the costs, you may be surprised!
Many people claim that trips with a travel agency are expensive and unprofitable. But is it really? We checked this on the basis of weekly offers, which we then played ourselves, and I think we need to change our minds about such trips. But remember, there's always a catch!
Recently I had the opportunity to check the hotel where the customers of travel agencies stay overnight, so to satisfy my curiosity I checked how many holidays we will organize for ourselves to those created by the office.
Many of you would cut your hand off for the fact that such offices are often deceivers, but you should hold off for a while. Prices of offices and excursions organized by yourself are similar and you have to decide for yourself.
The assumption is simple. I use the same hotel as the clients of travel agencies, and not some other, cheaper one would be fair.
Our place of stay will be Sicily and a 7-day trip and in order not to raise the price I choose the date of almost a holiday, but outside the peak - early September.
Such a week without promotions and discounts costs in the office, attention, 2800 PLN. Yes, that's a lot, but we'll check if it's possible to see if we can save ourselves using the Internet.
The price includes accommodation, insurance, resident care, flight from Warsaw to Palermo (and back!), checked baggage and the so-called soft all-inclusive. Thanks to this, we have three meals to which we can choose two types of wine or a coca-cola drink, and in addition to lunches we have a choice of non-alcoholic beverages. The hotel is a typical resort hotel. With nice views, several swimming pools and terraces, bars, and all on 27 hectares, so there is no feeling that it is a moloch. That's what you can remember when you're waiting for food.
Checking the booking, accommodation with breakfast is more than 2800 PLN per room for two people. However, if we want to have the same offer as in the case of the office, the price for two people is more than 4100 zł. It turns out that two meals for 7 days cost over 600 PLN per person. However, you can always save money by eating out in the city. If we eat in the city, the cost of such food will be 480 zł per person for a week.
So which solution is better? If we go on our own, we have a million options to choose from. We can choose a smaller hotel closer to our destination or spend the whole day in any hostel spending on traveling and eating pizza.
