First, a lot of sacrifices, diet and exercise hours. Then the effects, which we happily display on the beach. Then there is a dramatic turn: the first extra kilograms after the holidays, autumn-winter wrestling in the form of a "rondelles" on the belly, and a prenatal depression after the Christmas greed and a strong decision to switch back to a diet. How to break out of the vicious circle of eternal weight loss, starting from avoiding holiday traps, which are the first step to losing your weight?
Many women repeat this pattern every year. What is worse, with each year, achieving the expected effects of a diet may become increasingly difficult, and deregulated metabolism means not only extra pounds, but also a greater risk of diseases such as obesity or diabetes. How do I avoid it? Starting from the beginning, that is, avoiding holiday traps on holiday. Here they are.
Trap 1: Holidays from healthy eating habits
If we lose weight and fight for a beautiful silhouette only because on holidays we eat waffles all day long with whipped cream and nutella, breaded fish or pork chops with lots of fries, yeast and sweet drinks, then... all the effort put into caring for the silhouette is in vain. We might as well give up the effort! It is not that we have to keep a strict regime and eat only raw carrots on the beach during our summer holidays, and we regret to see others eating ice cream and fruit on the beach. The trick is not to "relax the diet" and not to give up healthy eating habits. Because only we think that after two weeks of eating "forbidden products" we will immediately return to our old dietary care. For then autumn will come, and with it a greater appetite "and in the cold months it is difficult to starve ourselves", then holidays and other occasions at which we will again forgive ourselves. Until we give up completely and end up... as always.
Good tip: Wherever we go, let's pack healthy snacks in a suitcase. If we don't go hungry, it'll be easier to avoid temptation. From time to time let us allow ourselves a "cheat meal", which means eat whatever we want, but do not exaggerate with too much, and then let's go for a short walk. Are we visiting another country in which we regret not to try local specialties? If the dishes are fatty, high-calorie or with a lot of sugar - let's taste them, but in small quantities.
Trap 2: It's just a holiday drink or two, which is a holiday with percentages
If a vacation under the palm trees, is it just with colorful drinks with a palm tree? Many people forget that alcohol in the form of sweet drinks is a real calorie bomb. The popular drink of the heroines of "Sex in the City" - Cosmopolitan with lemon vodka, orange liqueur, lemon juice and cranberry juice is about 150 calories. The popular Pinacolada (white rum, coconut milk, pineapple juice) is already around. 180 kcal, and Mojito (white rum, three tablespoons of sugar, half lime, carbonated water, crushed ice) is about 190 kcal. It will be no different with beer - a half-litre pint of lager is about 245 kcal. If one drink or beer were to end during the day, the balance of extra calories consumed wouldn't be alarming. However, when the holiday atmosphere makes the day on the beach under the palm trees start with a colorful drink, then we have something to think about.
Good tip: Treat sweet drinks as cheat meal, i.e. either drinks or ice cream or waffles with whipped cream! If we reach for alcohol on holiday, let it be a glass of dry red wine. It not only improves digestion of e.g. fatty foods, supports anti-cancer activity, improves kidney function, but it is also the least calorie alcohol - a glass (150 ml) is 100 kcal.
Trap 3. Holiday on a deckchair - because rest means no movement
If we treat physical activity, such as training with a favourite fitness trainer, as a compulsion and a murder, not a pleasure, then it is hardly surprising that we treat holidays as a springboard from moving and plan to spend the entire holiday without getting up from the deckchair. However, this is not the best strategy - all the more so when we allow ourselves a small break in the form of waffles with whipped cream or a colorful drink. A short fitness training or running a few kilometers along the beach is an option for those who love sports activities and do not treat their exercise during the holiday as a punishment. It is important for us to be able to find a form of movement that pleases us. An hour of cycling, e.g. in the city of Lille7 Le Grand, to get to know the seaside town better and feel the wind in your hair, an hour's walk along the sea shore, taking a sunbathing break on a deckchair to swim a little - something will always be there and we don't have to treat it as an unpleasant duty!
