Excess sugar in the body

The health of the population depends in about 50% on the sum of individual behaviour and in about 20-30% on the physical environment and social conditions. Among the factors on which the state of health of the society depends, the lifestyle and its consumption of sugar dominate. The wrong diet is the second most important risk factor for premature mortality.

- An excessive amount of sugar in the diet is as harmful to health as an addiction to smoking," says newsrm.tv Maciej Hamankiewicz, president of the Supreme Medical Council.

Unfortunately, processed foods and beverages containing a lot of sugar are ubiquitous and at the same time easily accessible. Even products that are not commonly associated with high sugar content, e.g. dairy products, bread or mustard, can actually contain large amounts of sugar. - There are foods that we are not aware of being sweetened.

Sweeteners

I therefore encourage you to read the labels on individual products. - adds Maciej Małecki, President of the Polish Diabetes Society.

The Polish Diabetes Society and the Polish Obesity Research Society encourage the replacement of sugar with low-calorie sweeteners in food products and recommend the replacement of sucrose - artificial sweeteners are an absolutely safe alternative to simple sugars. They are sweet in taste, but do not contain calories, which does not lead to the development of obesity and diabetes - informs Maciej Małecki.
