zinc

Investing in our health, we reach for many supplements with various vitamins. Especially in winter, we try to protect our body from viruses and bacteria, which is not always easy when staying in crowded places: at school, university or supermarket.

These are usually the well-known vitamin C (vitamin C - properties and symptoms of deficiency), vitamin K or magnesium. These are some of the most common vitamins advertised. That is why it is so easy for us to reach for them.

However, let's not forget about less famous micronutrients, which equally strongly build our health, well-being and immunity. One such microelement is zinc. Who knows what he is helping us with? Zinc is a very important ingredient, which plays a significant role in metabolic processes, energy metabolism, DNA and protein synthesis and protects the body against pathogens.

Zinc should also be used by pregnant women, because it ensures the proper development of the fetus, has an anti-cancer effect and activates our brain so that we can smell, taste and have a good memory! Zinc is also a great aid in case of skin problems. It significantly improves its condition, helps the nails to grow healthy and strong and prevents hair loss. It will also help those of us who have problems with acne, because it significantly minimizes dermatitis and purulent conditions. But now, in the autumn-winter season, its most important function is to strengthen immunity.

By activating the T lymphocytes, zinc strengthens our immune system. This micronutrient is also very important for pregnant women, whose immunity decreases drastically during this period and is more prone to disease than usual. Men of childbearing age should also take care of its proper level, as it improves sperm quality and sperm mobility. However, in the case of zinc deficiency during the disease, we delay our recovery, because its absence or reduced state favours the development of further diseases, delays the healing of wounds and significantly increases the risk of gastrointestinal diseases. When replenishing zinc deficiency we should remember about its proper dosage.
