In many women, irritation, sadness and euphoria are caused by hormones. See how their level changes depending on the phase of your menstrual cycle - and start to control them!

Hormones and the menstrual cycle

The ovulatory cycle is conditioned by the action of hormones. FSH (foliculotropic hormone) and LH (lutein) are the main contributors to the development of ovarian follicles, while the second stimulates the release of eggs. In the meantime, estrogens and progesterone are also produced.

The whole cycle lasts from 25 to 31 days. During this time, hormone levels change, rise and fall all the time. The menstrual cycle is a constant storm of hormones - no wonder that it affects the behavior and appearance of women!

Getting to know the whole cycle from this hormonal side will allow you to control your emotions. Below we describe the behavior of hormones during the cycle on the example of the most common one, i.e. 28-day cycle.

1-5 day of the cycle

Menstrual bleeding, or the beginning of an ovulatory cycle, is the time when most women feel physically ill. Estrogen and progesterone levels decrease. The FSH causes the follicles of the Graph to develop and mature, in which the egg cells are hidden.

The low level of female hormones contributes to an improvement in mood compared to the pre-menstrual period itself. Small amounts of progesterone also mean better metabolism. Some women suffer from abdominal pain and drowsiness during the period.

Attention - low level of female hormones (and difficult hygiene) also affects the susceptibility to intimate infections, e.g. vaginal mycosis.

6-13 day of the cycle

The period is over, so LH makes the Graaf's follicle grow and the ovaries release more oestrogen. This hormone has a positive effect on the appearance of hair and skin, the woman also feels more energy.

Better mood and appearance are also reflected in fertile days - 3 to 5 days before ovulation it is easiest to get pregnant.

14th day of the cycle

Day 14 is a special day in the whole cycle - ovulation takes place. The estrogen reaches its highest level in the body and the level of lutein increases. As a result, the follicle of the Graph breaks and the egg cell is released.

On this day the woman is accompanied by a very good mood and... willingness to have sex. It is also very sensitive to odour stimuli. What is important is that he is also in excellent intellectual condition.

15-20 day of cycle

In the body, estrogen is still at a high level. The follicle left by the cell transforms into a so-called yellow corpus luteum and begins the production of progesterone.

During these days a woman may feel the effects of slow metabolism, she may feel sluggish. Usually, however, a good mood does not leave her.

21-28 day of cycle

When fertilisation does not occur, the estrogen level drops considerably. The corpus luteum begins to fade, so the amount of progesterone also decreases. An unfertilized cell is removed from the body during menstruation.

During this time, women develop PMS (premenstrual syndrome) - bad mood and irritability are the hallmarks of these days. Swelling of the legs and hands may also occur.
